The Deputy Vice-chancellor, Administration, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Isaac Sammani Rabo Butswat, has visited Kano Study Centre, where he supervised students undergoing the mandatory Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).

The 2-day exercise saw the visiting DVC go around the state to supervise NOUN students undergoing SIWES in institutions and organisations within the state.

On arrival in Kano, Butswat’s first port of call was Aminu Kano International Airport, where he supervised two students who were undertaking their SIWES exercise at the airport.

Accompanied by the Director, Kano Study Centre, Mr. Muddasir Ahmad Ishaq, and other staff of the centre, the DVC proceeded to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kano Zonal Office, for a similar exercise.

Furthermore, students undergoing their SIWES exercise at the Federal Radio Co-operation, Pyramid FM, Kano and the Kano State Ministry of Environment (Pollution Control Laboratory) were also supervised.

He also visited the Kano State Public Complaint Commission for the same function, after which Butswat visited the Kano Study Centre where he inspected the centre facilities and held a meeting with the staffers.

During the meeting, he urged them to continue to be punctual and take their assigned responsibilities with all manner of seriousness, even as he expressed satisfaction with what he saw on the ground, and commended them for their resilience.

The DVC further commended the centre director for being a good captain of the centre as he saw the continuous existence and prevalence of cooperation and commitment from the centre staffers.

He said the supervision of SIWES students was to ensure that quality is achieved, adding that the university is after providing quality education to students so as to produce quality manpower in the country for efficiency in work places.

Butswat said he was highly impressed by the way the students were conducting and undertaking the exercise in their respective organisations.
