Nscdc, Kaduna Centre To Parley On Insecurity

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Rigachikun Division, Kaduna State, is set to parley the Kaduna Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) towards curtailing the menace of insecurity, violence and other social vices.

Divisional Officer of the corps, Rigachikun Division, CSC M. K. Muazu stated this during a visit to the Centre.

The visit, according to Muazu, who was recently posted to the area, was familiarise him self and become conversant with the terrain, government institutional formations, and private organisations within the area under Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

He said forming a formidable alliance with the NSCDC will go a long way in curtailing the rise of insecurity, violence and other social vices that were said to be growing in geometric progression.

The Chief Superintendent of Corps disclosed that the alliance would further create a cordial relationship between the various institutions in the area, adding that NSCDC will also extend its tentacles to the neibouring National Teachers Institute (NTI), National Commission for Nomadic Education (NCNE) and a host of others.

Muazu advised the study centre director on the need to be security conscious by initiating a frequent meeting between the two formations and applauded NOUN for its educational system.

While responding to the divisional officer's speech, the Director Kaduna Study Centre, Mr. Yusuf Abdullahi, extended the felicitation of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters, to the officer and men of the NSCDC in the entourage.

He said NOUN and NSCDC are stakeholders in the educational sector as there was an existing relationship between the two parties that saw NOUN establishing a special study centre specifically for the NSCDC situated at Sauka, FCT, for the development of education.

The director emphasised that to have an effective synergy, there was the need for the neighbouring three establishments to cooperate and called on the NSCDC to initiate a meeting between the establishments in order to enhance and achieve the desired objectives.

On the other hand, the director encouraged the officers of the NSCDC to enroll and upgrade their education with NOUN, urging those present to extend the message to others who were not opportune to be around about the benefits that await them by enrolling into NOUN.
