Dr Julius Eyanuku, the Ag. Director of the centre, disclosed this in an exclusive interview with NOUN Radio, 105.9FM, Lagos, in a programme called “Morning Lite show” on Friday, November 11, 2022.
Eyanku expressed optimism that the centre's facilities were nearing completion, and he reiterated that the university expected to begin enrolling students in the new year, explaining the extra semester delay for official admission of students.
It will be recalled that the university’s Governing Council and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olufemi Peters, toured the Badagry community to inspect available facilities that would be most suitable for the centre.
The team, which was led by the university’s provost, Prof. Peter Okebukola, visited the chairman of Badagry Local Government, Mr. Olusegun Onilude, and also stopped by the palace of the Akran of Badagry Kingdom, De Wheno Aholu Menu-Toyi, to pay homage to the traditional ruler.
The Badagry Study Center, which is located on the north bank of Porto Novo Creek, an inland waterway that connects Lagos to the Beninese capital of Porto Novo, is expected to be a huge success and a relief to students who travel that far to Victoria Island during exams, as well as some answered prayers to prospective students from neighboring cities.
